It almost seems a little strange, the fact that we won't be meeting for a couple of weeks! I hope everyone is doing well and that lives are running as smoothly as possible. I just wanted to rant a little about the holiday season (and maybe EID on Thursday?!? woot!) and its expectations because it makes me a little irritated to be honest.
My current spaz attack? CHRISTMAS PARTIES! I'm all for the holiday work party and get togethers where everyone relaxes and remembers to take a break but how come we can't have an EID PARTY or DIWALI CELEBRATIONS? .... in the middle of October? What happened to celebrating diversity in the workplace? Diversity only seems to exist in the form of the token "racialized" person in the room and that's every day, all the time! And yet I still find myself getting pumped for our work parties... I'm doing the double standard thing on myself, seriously not cool. So this year I accepted every single invitation I could find for parties that weren't the norm, starting with the all out muslim-bash tonight! ( And if you ask if Muslim people are "allowed" to party, as Sonia would say... "Get Shot") But still, the Christmas parties outweigh my choices. So, to participate in Secret Santa or not... What do you think?
